Created by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Bethesda Softworks, Fallout: New Vegas was released in 2010. It was created in 18 months by Obsidian. Fallout: New Vegas was created by them because Bethesda wanted to work on their new Elder Scrolls game (Skyrim), and therefore didn’t have time to make it, and because Obsidian Entertainment was created by former members of Interplay Entertainment, Bethesda figured it would be a good idea for them to work on Fallout again. It runs on the same engine as Fallout 3, and therefore looks similar to Fallout 3. New Vegas takes place in 2281, which is 4 years after Fallout 3 and 204 years after the bombs dropped. It is located in parts of Arizona, parts of California, and lots of Nevada, including landmarks such as Las Vegas (renamed to New Vegas after being partially destroyed and rebuilt) and the Hoover Dam (practically untouched). The game starts after a member of a gang attempts to kill you and leaves you for dead after he steals the platinum chip, a very important piece of technology that basically gives the owner absolute control over the Mojave. You are rescued, and you search for it, and when you find it and get revenge, the player has a huge decision on whom to give it to. The player can give it to the NCR (military group that wants to restore the earth back to exactly how it used to be), Powder Gangers (gang members), Mr. House (creator of the chip who protected New Vegas using futuristic shields, Yes Man (robot that seems friendly, but really isn’t), the Brotherhood of Steel (weakened version of the BoS that doesn’t like outsiders), or Caesar’s Legion (evil legion of people who praise one man, just like Romans). This game also has downloadable content packs, which includes finding a lost treasure, finding people in the Grand Canyon, escaping a test lab compound, and a conclusion of the player’s story. Surprisingly, even though New Vegas included drugs and alcohol, just like Fallout 3, this game has little to no controversy.
